Take the the kids out to Maggiore Cherry Ranch to pick cherries.
The season usually starts sometime in May. Be sure to call the day you want to go out to make sure they have some orchards open. Their answering machine will state which orchards are open for the day.
You don't really need to bring anything with you to pick cherries. They have plastic buckets that they will loan you for free.
They have ladders set up here and there in the orchard. Be sure to watch the kids if they decide to climb up the ladders. Tell them not to reach for cherries.
The kids are going to want to eat the cherries left and right. Bring some zip lock bags and water. Wash some cherries that they picked so that they can eat what they picked right away.
The cherries do taste better than the ones you get in the super market.
There's no entrance fee. All you need to do is pay for the cherries you pick. Bring cash. They don't accept credit cards.
Parking is not a problem, at least at the 470 Hoffmon orchard. There's a good amount of space. Parking is free.
They do have a few porta potties set up there.
While we were walking around picking, we saw a few families that brought picnic lunches. They laid out a blanket underneath the trees. That was great idea.
Have fun with the kids!
